Default Clash Result Display Settings Saved in Viewpoints

I think this was mentioned in another thread, but wanted to bring the topic up instead of it being buried in a thread.

Description: When saving a Clash result to Viewpoints, the Viewpoint does not hold the Display settings (dim other, auto-reveal, etc.) from the Clash results tab.

How Used: If someone wants to view the saved Clash Viewpoints in ANY Navisworks program (including Manage), they do not see the same results...it reverts back to the "normal" viewpoint settings.

Yes, if you have Manage you could just review the Results tab, but that's besides the point. Most who are viewing saved Clash Viewpoints do not have Manage.

Having a "run-time" clash reviewer in NavisWorks Review (maybe even Freedom, but thats asking a lot...) would be nice - something to review the recorded clashes with. We don't need the full blown clash options/report writing/updating, just "Dim other" and "Hide other" options (and maybe automatically select the two clashing objects as well) so users can more easily tell *what* is clashing.

This is a great suggestion. Not only would it clear up a bunch of confusion surrounding certain clashes, it helps the process along faster because people won't have the need to ask questions needing clarifications.

Couldn't agree more. All the functionality which makes clashes understandable is lost unless viewed in Navisworks Manage. If clash detection is going to be an integral part of the process, the results of the clash have to be available to all (including those with Freedom Viewer).

Did You know, actually, you can do that?, follow these steps:

    1. Run test in clash detection
    2. Export the report using the drop down menu option "As viewpoints", bellow the section "Report Format",. Make sure that "Preserve result Highlighting" is on.
    3. Click on "write report" button.
    4. Publish the file to NWD format.
    5. Open this NWD file in Navisworks Freedom and you could see in the "Saved Viewpoints" window, every clash saved as a viewpoint with the "Reset Appearance" option.

Late, but I hope that helps to someone .

    Greetings!
