    Question Joining polylines

I am trying to join polylines. They will not join with a fuzz distance of 0.5. When I enter a fuzz distance of 1 the polylines don't join but it changes the geometry. How can I join the polylines in the drawing called, "autodim polyline dont join.dxf". An example of what happens with my method is in "autodim polylines join with fuzz at 1.dxf". Currently using AutoCAD 2007 and/or mechanical 2007

There may be quicker ways to cheat but you should go around stretching endpoints so that they coincide. A bit quicker is to trace over the existing geometry with new polylines with ENDpoint set as a running osnap. (You could snap to either object but you probably don't care which one.)

Edit - since the fillet rads seem to all have the same value (0.1297), for a lot of it it may be quicker to use Fillet to join adjacent lines and simply erase the existing radii.

Thanks for the info. The drawing looks good. I also found a command from another post called, "MPEDIT". It works for joining all the lines, arcs and polylines without changing geometry.

i have ran into those same problems. i have tried different routines with little or no success.
the only thing i found out that works for me is to use a fillet with a 0 radius or select your line and grab your grip at the end of on line and place it on the other, i know your lines are already connected to each other but for some reason Autocad can not see that.

How do you change the fuzz distance setting?
What is the default fuzz distance setting too?

    regards

Using Mpedit command, if you select the Join option, you are asked for a fuzz distance - the allowable gap/overlap between line ends that will still result in a join. It's like applying the Fillet (0) command in the middle of the Pedit command. Default value is 0 = no fillet = lines must meet exaclty to be joined.

Great! Thanks John! That is a pretty cool option, and will be very helpful.
