Cliff, Thanks for your patience, though I don't have the advantage of collaborating with coworkers on these common issues I probably know enough to be dangerous since working with revit for 2+yrs. I have never not been able to place or host a door before. This is a first. I have constrained floors & walls to levels at the appropriate height, set the work plane at the level needed. I duplicated the 1st flr view to make the LL view I'm working on. I have never had a time when the elements didn't attach to walls in the level I wanted. There is a new renegade issue I must find that will continue to haunt me that wasn't there before when I started the LL view. I have doors I placed earlier in walls that now are trying to attach to walls on the 1st level. Thanks again for your effort to guide me thru this elementary condition. I appreciate the tips you have given me. Jan

    Aha!!!

Duplicating the View to make the new Plan View is the issue.

Instead, go to an elevation and create a new Level and corresponding Plan View.
Name the Level and Plan View according to your standards.

Then, in the new Plan View for the new Level, place walls and then doors.
This should work properly as expected.

The problem is, when you duplicated the view, it is just a copy of the original view,
and inherits its "work plane" or Level constraint. It would be possible to set the View range
to adjust to the proper elevation/storey height, but things will still be trying to host to the original Level.

    Does this help?

    cheers..............

    Best regards, Jan
