I am trying to create a new casework family, but the reference planes in the templates don't all apply. I can't delete certain planes or delete the dimensions/labels attached to them. Anyone know why?

The default templates for each object category are set up to facilitate certain system parameters and therefore you may not be able to delete certain elements. If you want to you can start clean with a generic family template and then change it to a casework family once in the family editor.
Categories and Parameters tab from several panels in the ribbon
Thanks, that's what I'll do!
We've created some in house family templates that have some default dimensions. It seems though some of the MEP families we custom created will not allow the dimensions to be deleted unless turned back into a .rfa deleted, then turned back into a rft. file. I have some in a casework family template that can be deleted but the ones in the lighting fixture cant. Is there a guideline that revit uses to be able to tell which dimensions can and cannot be deleted?
