Default Embedded Details Flipping within Curtain Wall Mullion Profiles

In the image provided. I am showing two sections that are looking North and South. Section One is looking North and Section Two is looking South. The views are specifically looking the same curtain wall.

I first created the profiles from the detail component, then decided to embedded the Jamb, Head, and Sill detail componenets into the profile families and applied them according to their correct positions within the Curtain Wall. I noticed that the details within the profiles were sometimes flipped, so I created this scenario for you to look at.

The views are looking at the same curtain wall and mullions, but looking in two different directions.

Why is the same embedded detail flipping its orientation depending on its viewable direction? Both the top and bottom details are reacting this way.

The Jamb details when viewed in plan and RCPs stay oriented the same, so this is unique to sectional views.

    Thank you for your time.

118 views and no one has responded. Is there anything else I can include to help the explanation or is there no solutions out there?

Tough to figure out unless you have had the same issue. Guess no one else has had the problem. Maybe if you went through the exact process, like a tutorial, then someone might recognize an issue.

How is the detail locked in the family? Seems to me like it's not locked in the center so it might mirror from a side instead.
But posting the family would really help

I have seen this issue before. It has been quite some time ago, but if memory serves it was related to the detail elements being import DWG information. Are these details imported DWGS?

If so you may try tracing/converting them to Revit detail component families not containing any DWG informationand see if you get the same results.

If they do not contain DWG information in them let me know and I can look into it a bit more. It seems like I remember logging this with development and it may still be an open issue.

you'll need two versions of the family, one for each side

Here is the Profile Family containing the embedded detail. You can import it into a project and use it as a curtain wall mullion profile and then set up two opposing sections.

The profile family contains a detail component family that was created with AutoCAD line work and then partially exploded to delete excess info/hatch patterns. The detail component is locked to a reference plane in the profile family which allows you to offset the detail component off of the rough opening for shimming/detailing purposes.

So far I have not solved the issue. The project has been progressing without a fix and numerous details are showing flipped details. When the deadline approaches I might have to hide the embedded details and manually place components.

Thank you for your time and I am grateful for your help.

Pretty sure this is your problem. Have you tried this by creating the detail component all in native detailing elements? You can still link in the ACAD detail but don't explode it or use anythign from it. Just use it to trace with Revit objects and then delete it out completly.

    This may resolve the issue.

Follow Gregs post above - this happens to us all the time so we need to make different types for each side (No Autocad lines - all revit nested components). Seems like a bug
