Default Duplicate parameters in different Shared Parameter logs

Our company has some older families that were created using a Shared Parameter log file: SP1.txt

We've learned a lot since then and have re-tooled how we do families and parameters. So, we created a new Shared Parameter log file: SP2.txt

Some of the parameters contained in SP1 and SP2 are the same name. For example, we have a light fixture with Shared Parameter "Switching" from SP1. We also, have a fixture tag using the same parameter from SP1. We created a new light fixture with a Shared Parameter "Switching" from SP2. If we tag the new fixture in a project, the Label for Switching displays a "?" even though the fixture Switching value is "A3".
This tells me that "Switching" from SP1 does not equal "Switching" from SP2.

So, I need to fix the old tag to point to the new Shared Parameter log file: SP2. However, when I try to edit the Label that is pointing to "Switching", I can't remove the parameter. There is an icon to do so, but it is inactive (grayed out). I can add the new "Switching" parameter from SP2, but then I have two parameters with the same name and can't tell which is old and which is new.

How can I remove the old parameter from the family, so I can add the new one without redundant names?

P.S. don't tell me I need to create all new families using the new Shared Parameter log.

You can use the purge command to remove it.

    ???

OK, I found if you delete the Label within the tag, the parameter disappears automatically from the parameter listing. Creating a new Label allows me to place the new parameter from the other Shared Parameter log. That delete parameter icon was confusing me.

Sorry for the confusion. . . Yes, I had the same thing, I didn't understand what the delete and edit parameter options are there for, they're not active.
I didn't delete the label I edited, switched it to another, and like it did for you it was automatically not listed once I exited the dialog.

The other really cool thing is when the "Edit Parameter" icon is enabled, and you click on it, everything on edit window is inactive. Thanks for trying.
