    Hi Bryan,

Looking at the list above, it would seem that the 3gig switch may not have been set on your machine. That is probably the first thing I would do as it is relatively easy and doesn't cost anything. Have a look through this or the hardware forum (or google) for instructions on setting the switch.

Otherwise, the big improvement for me was in changing from 32bit xp to 64bit vista.
64bit vista gets to use all of the ram available.

One of my machines is a similar spec to yours with 4gb ram and has no problems running 100mb models. As most of my work is smaller scale, 100mb is pretty much the largest file I typically run.

    Wink Re: system specs

    1. Windows Vista or Windows 7 64 bit
    2. As much RAM as you can fit in the slots--8GB min.
    3. Fast quad-core processor--Xeon or better w/ hyperthreading; good FBS
( Multi-core CPUs are more important for photorealistic rendering )
    4. Decent video card w/ min 256MB and Direct 3D capability; nothing too high-end.

That would be a good start.

    cheers..........

There's a thread on the ahrdware section with a benchmark regarding that topic.
