Default Illustrator 10 files to AutoCAD LT 2004.dwg

I am wondering if there is a way to covert hatches into outlines and splines into arcs. The opening of the .dwg file created when exported from Illustrator file gives me both. Also, how do I join/unite two segments of a line, arc, spline? I have been using the GROUP command, but would like to know if there is a way to reduce the number of grips.
    Thanks.

    Hi

Please note I've *moved* this thread from the Local User Groups Forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

    Thanks, Mike
