Adding text to Dynamic Block

I have created a dynamic block (basically a rectangle with wheels in plan view) I have a list of diff sizes to choose from, and a visibility par that either shows the casters on or off not. All of that works great. I am trying to add text that will appear within the block that shows the size of the mobile shelf after I select the one I want from the list I created. So ultimatley the text will change when the block is stretched. Is this possible to do?

It is possible...one way would be to use visibility states to show the text linked with the size choice. Another way would be to use fields for the text although I havent had much luck with fields inside of DBs as of yet. Could you post the block for us to mess around with?

ok...tried with fields and have the same problem as Ive had in the past. The fields show up correctly but do not automatically update when you change the size...anyone figured this one out?

next question...does this come in a few standard sizes or can it be "any width by any height? If there are standard sizes, please provide a list and Ill put together a table with a lookup parameter.

Regen the drawing and the attributes will update, only way I know of.

I already have the standard size included in the block. Check the properties of it (under Distance 1 and Distance 2.)

ok...my question about the sizes wasnt stated very clearly...what i meant was can this shelf be, say 14"x any of the lengths in the distance param, or is the 14" width only available in certain lengths, etc. I did a lookup table with just a few sizes so you could see more clearly what im getting at.

Also, John is correct in that the fields do update with a regen...i guess i wasnt paying close enough attention before. Take a look at the attached block and see if it points you in the right direction.

Try using a dimension, with (or without) lines and arrows turned off.
Leave the <> and stick in any additional text you want.

This works great for me with a Shelf Pin Holes block I shared.

Sorry if this doesn't apply, but I can't do DB's right now, I'm stuck in 2004-land.
