    Question Light Fixture Issues

I have two issues with the attached family that I cannot resolve.

    1. The fixture does not mask reflected ceiling lines similar to the MEP version of a recessed can. What am I missing?
    2. The light source complains it is within solid objects, but I have a void placed that should fix that.

    1. Create a Masking Region in the RCP view of the family that is the same size and shape as the fixture. The masking region will only be visible in the view it is placed, so when you look at it in RCP in your project it will block out the ceiling grid.

    2. Your void intersects, but does not actually cut, the generic host object. Use the "Cut Geometry" tool to make it actually cut and remove material from the solid.

That is what I tried before posting and that does not work. At least not for MEP face-based families. What I have found to work is what you mentioned in item 2. The generic host object needs to be cut for the masking effect to occur.

Thanks for getting me over the hump.
