Roof plan as underlay

I would like to use my roof plan as an underlay to then use the Linework tool to show where roof overhangs are located. Thing is....my roofs vary in height above the floor plan level....and most do not display once i set the underlay to show the roof plan.

I have tried changing the view range top setting to the roof level but that does not help. Any tips?

As a work around, consider tracing on the roof plan with drafting lines and then copy and paste to your floor plan. If you have multiple floors I recommend making these line a group so chagnes propogate correctly.

I believe you could also change the view range of the floor plan so that the cut and top of range are above the roof. Then use the linework on the roof edge and reset the view range. The linework should stay and keep its relationship to the roof.
