    Default Rip Issues

    I started a new sheet metal drawing.
    I set the thickness to 5mm in the sheet metal defaults dialog.
    I then created a 5mm thick & 500mm long loft shape with a 300mm diameter & a 100mm diameter at the ends.
    I also created a point in the existing sketch & turned the sketch on.
    But with the Single Point method in the RIP function, it doesn't rip the face.
    I also tried the Point to Point method with no success.

    By using the same method, I created the rip to a cylinder with no problems.

    Your helps are much appreciated.

    You did not use sheet metal tools to create this and therefore it is not correct.
    You should use Lofted Flange in the sheet metal tools instead of Loft.

    But if you are going to use Loft then Shell does not result in the correct part on the ends as they are not perpendicular to the sides. To use Loft you should Loft as a surface body and the use the Thicken/Offset feature to thicken. This will give you the correct ends.

    This is a confusion when Inventor provides 2 sets of tools, Lofted Flange & Loft, in Sheet Metal environment.
    Anyway, learned from you.
    One more question:
    Is there a tool doing "polish" part surface instead of turning off the Lofted Surface feature shown in your drawing?

    I don't know what this means. Are you aware of the difference between surface bodies and solid bodies?

    Sorry I was away & couldn't reply your post.
    When I turn on Loftsrf1, the surface looks weird. Please see the attached image.
    Is there a tool that can fix this or performs a "polish" without Loftsrf1 turned off?

    Surface bodies are construction geometry, like sketches, workplanes, workpoints....
    You use the to construct your solid geometry and then turn off the visibility.
