Default Connection between structural column and foundation

    Hi!
I have a situation where I have a foundation slab that sits in the same level as the floor (it is for some machines). There is a structural column that has a base level 150mm lower than the top of the foundation, and the foundation drops down and attaches to the bottom of the column. I can`t seem to get rid of this, neither with detatch nor unjoin. The foundation is a family that I have created myself, and I have even made it with no geometry "touching" the column.

You will need to place a reference plane in section view that is at the same level as the top of your footing.

Using the align tool, align and lock the top of the footing to the reference plane.

Then place your column and offset the base of the column -150 below that level. You will still see the warning that says "attached foundation will be moved to the bottom of the colum" etc etc... but it won't actually move.

    See the attached images.

    Hope this helps.

Question Re: Connection between structural column and foundation

Can I name that reference plane and lock multiple footings to that plane?

Yeh, you can name the reference plane and lock multiple footings, and if you have footings at different levels, add additional reference planes, name them, and follow the same process.
