    Default Drawing Locks Up

    Hi

I am currently working on a drawing, basic 2D, in autocad 2000i. I am finding the drawing locks up whenever I use the pan command. I have the base model and 15 Layouts.

The drawing size is 2484Kb and has been audited and purged but still locks up.

I have only noticed on the Pan command so cannot be sure that is does not do it on other commands.

Can anybody suggest any ideas? Is there another clean up command that may find something? Is there any problem with the Pan command which may cause this?

    Your help would be appreciated.

    Regards

    Neil

I have changed the LTscale to a lower figure and it seems to have solved the problem. Will try and see. In the meantime do you know if I can actually delete an object from a viewport with a command other than layer freeze. I have some drawings where the layers are screwed up and want to be lazy.

    Many Thanks

    Hi

Don't be lazy honestly it can quite easily cause a lot more work in the long-run.

Use the _.VPLayer command or the Express Tools command _LAYFRZ or....

    OR

If you really want to be lazy, place a 3D Face / Region / Wipeout Object over the Object(s) you want to hide (Such a method really should be the very last resort in this case).

I am still having problems with the drawing locking up every few commands. I note that in another thread there was a problem with the actual processor. Would you consider this as an option?

    Hi

Honestly, pass.... if I was pushed and with the little amount I actually know about this particular issue / problem I wouldn't say it's "Processor" related (at this moment in time)....

Why? - You say it only occurs within the 1 drawing file, therefore at the moment the evidence points at the actual drawing file as the cause of the issue / problem.

I'm afraid if you want to resolve this issue / problem you will probably have to spend quite a bit of time and effort investigating and eliminating possible causes; the links I originally provided should help you start down the right path....

Have tried the same drawing on 2 other machines and they both seem to work ok. So just seems to be my PC. Does that point to the PC or Software rather than the drawing?

Sorry if questions seem a bit daft, this is happening just as I need to get urgent job out.

    Hi

What happens if you logon to another PC and Open the drawing file?

What happens if another CAD User log's on to your PC and Open's the drawing file, do they experience the problem?

If yes, it's probably hardware related, bad memory card, bad graphics card, bad.... I think you get the picture. Though to rule out software you could try a Repair Install or a Full Uninstall / Reinstall.

If no, it could be your AutoCAD or Windows Profile has become corrupt.

I have posted a previous thread to this but wanted to add further info. I have now managaged to get the same drawings to lock up on 3 different machines. Thus most probably disproving a hardware problem.

The drawings are converted from Vector works drawings and the problems seem to appear after and audit and purge. alhough this may be a coincidence. Having tried everything else can anyone come up with any further ideas????
