I have tried exporting a Revit model out as both Autocad dwg+dxf (ACIS solids and as polyface mesh).
When I import to 3DS Max Design there are certain objects on the same layer that I wish to apply materials to individually. When I try applying materials to one object, another unexpectedly changes too.
Strangely this does not apply to all objects. Some created on the same layer (windows) can have materials applied individually.
My students are experiencing the same thing but I don't have a clue what the problem is. It's not a selection set issue - besides a prompt would ask if I wanted to apply the material to the "selection" or to the "object".
On the 3DS side, I've tried importing by entity, by layer, node hierarchy and so on.
I've also tried "splitting" the objects by creating new layers & moving objects to the new layers too.
Is there any way to break the material link between these objects created on the same layer?
