    Default Custom Subassemblies

I am a new Civil 3D user and would like to know how to make a custom subassembly. I made a simple one from a polyline but could not figure how to make a more complex subassembly, which may include several components like the out-of-the box subassemblies. I know I can use the ones included with the program and modifiy them but I would like to be able to make my own.

    Default Re: Custom Subassemblies

The custom subassemblies that ship with C3D are written in VB.NET. The source code for them can be found in the Sample/Civil 3D API directory of your Civil or Civil 3D installation. There is also a bunch of information about creating the subassemblies and their ATC files, found in the Help directory of your Civil or Civil 3D installation.

You don't actually have to use VB.NET, but it might be easiest, since that's what the existing subassemblies use, and you have a bunch of sample source code. It's rather messy code, and it can take a bit of time to figure out, but you have the source code for all the subassemblies that ship with Civil 3D.
