    Default copying hosted lighting fixtures

is it possible to copy hosted lighting fixtures from an Electrical Model to an Arch Model?
my Architect told me is not possible...
What type of practice have people been using when the Lighting Designer is the Consultant and not the Architects?
They want us to own the ceiling in our model as well..

    Any feedback would be appreciated

it is possible to copy elements from a linked model into your working model. Are you saying this isn't working because the objects are hosted to a plane?

The lighting fixture category cannot be copy/monitored. That feature is for certain architectural elements only.

right. i was referring to copying from the linked model by tabbing through the linked element, and doing a physical copy.

Copying a large lighting layout is probably not the way to go. I'd recommend just laying in your own lights in your model. It goes pretty quick. This makes it easier to let your lighting designer do his own layout. You can face host them to the linked ceiling and have your own plan view display and schedule and circuiting data.

Agreed. But if you're gonna take the time to re-enter the data at that point how bout instead of your own lighting fixtures, hosting type connectors for each fixture on the linked lighting fixtures so if they move your connectors will follow? Just throwing some ideas out there.

    here are some more.

The only drawback is that your lighting schedule becomes a bit more difficult.

This is really up to the Arch and Eng to work out. Who's going to own the lighting design? In my opinion, that is who should place and schedule the lights.
