    Default Concrete frames

I am creating a model for an existing building that has concrete frames in it (similar to a pre-engineered metal building) with tapered columns. I am having trouble figuring out how I shoud tackle modeling the tapered columns. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Create a new family for the tapered columns and instead of using a extrusion use a sweep blend with different size profiles to get it to taper

You could use the opening by face tool to create the desired shape.

In a section or elevation view.

Click the 'Modify' tab on the ribbon, then select By Face (under openings)

Click the column face, and sketch your desired profile onto the face of the column, then click finish.

    See attached images.

    Hope this helps.
