    Default Keyed Notes

We just started using Revit here and among many victories and ongoing battles and figuring out how to do task, the main thing that is stumping us is Keyed Notes. As I understand it you have one txt file per project, so I created it and set the keynotes settings to number per sheet. What I can not figure out is the whole filtering and how to setup the text file to have different keyed notes for each discipline (mech, elec, and plum.)

    Any help would be appreciated.

The text file is just a list of notes. It doesn't know which notes are mechanical and which are electrical. In order to make it easier to find certain notes in the text file, you can organize it such that each discipline has its own top level note with sub notes.
In the Revit project, you cannot filter the scheduled notes by discipline, since the text file has no parameters to associate certain notes with their respetive disciplines. However, if you filter the keynote legend "by sheet," then the keynote legend, when placed on a sheet, will only list the keynotes that are also placed on that particular sheet. Unfortunately, if you have mech and elec views placed on the same sheet, then the keynotes for both discplines will be listed in the legend.

    Does that make sense?

Thank You, I will try that. But if someone has to add a note does that change anything, does it correspond to the line in the txt file?

You may want to look into useing "Note Blocks" they are slightly different than keynotes and may work better for your situation.
