Thumbs down Proper Settings for AUTOCAD 2010 on 64BIT Machine?

If anyone can help me out with the proper settings for AutoCAD 2010 on a 64-bit machine I would greatly appreciate it. This is my first 64-bit machine I have worked on and am not familiar with it, nor do I know what I need to tweek to get it to work properly. It is a brand new machine with Windows XP64. Revit Structure 2010 runs incredibly well on it with no tweeking at all. AutoCAD 2010, however, takes forever to open tool palettes, takes a lifetime to manipulate layers, and runs very slow in general. Anyone with the same problems? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

I just installed vanilla AutoCAD 2010 on Windows 7, 64-bit and it runs great so far. No problems.

Have you tried disconnecting all network connections (including wifi) as a test?

You can start autocad without your profile to make sure there isn't something in there causing problems. Copy the startup icon on the desktop, change or add a profile switch like /p newprofile in properties of the icon.
    Example.
    "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ACAD_2010\acad.exe" /p newprofile

In Options, under the Open/Save tab, uncheck the Maintain Visual Fidelity box. This should help speed some things up. It did for me. The event reactors that Autodesk keeps putting in the program are a nice thought, but when they are running, whenever you make a change, they check the entire drawing to make sure everything is still okay. The Layer Properties Manager is especially notorius for this. Hope this helps some.
