Default Family of Precast Concrete panels with windows

I am trying to create a family of precast concrete panels , 22' wide x14'10" high. The pic is attached. What is the best way to create it. I am using the curtain wall template and changing the grids size to 22' x 14'10" and placing the family. It would also be great to know the right way to show glass ( I have not been able to bring in a window into this family) as well as the structure for the precast panels. The precast panels are 2" in depth with an airgap of 2" and then 4" structural tubing behind it.

    Why make them a Family?
Typically in the project that i am dealting with there are too many precast Panel Types & then its a Nightmare if anything moves!

We are Using a Standards Wall Style (say 150Conc) & then using a Hosted Profile/Reveal to panelize our Preast Panels. The Reveal Option allow you to have the wall sliced up as if it was an individual Component Family (just make the Reveal Profile Depth the same a the Wall Thickness). all you need is Profiles of the Specific Joint Types you are using (say a Vertical & Horisontal Joint). You can Add any Specific Wall Shapes top It & is you Need 3D's of the Panels - Usse a 3d Section Cropped to the Extents of teh Panel!

    Cheers

Another typical method is to do the walls as curtain walls with the panels set to be a 125mm Conc or 150mm etc. Then use the grids and mullions to define the joints. The only thing missing is the chamfered edge on the panel, but if this is really critical you can still use a wall reveal to do this.

I've made a fairly detailed panel with a parameterized void that can be resized into a window, a door, etc. A typical curtain wall window can be placed in the opening. To put a door in the opening, first make the opening exactly the size of the door + frame, make a generic wall fit exactly in the opening, and place the door in the generic wall which should "disappear".

why not make a chamfered curtain wall panel, then use the curtainwall tool, insert the panel, and size accordingly. like this:

I am understanding the use of a curtain wall that is set up to be a tilt panel. but how are people inserting doors into the wall? does anyone know of a simple way to do this with out going through the mess of cutting an opening? is there a way to just drop a door in like on a "normal" wall?

    drenken,
The nature of a curtain wall does not allow a standard door to be 'dropped in' as you would with a standard wall. Curtain walls have parameters which allow many of the conditions to automatically adjust by the rules defined in the Type. Standard door elements do not 'adjust' their size this way, that is why they can't be applied.

Create the proper sized opening (or panel area) in your curtain wall, fill in a generic wall type, and insert the standard door into that generic wall section. OR, you could customize a curtainwall door family to be a solid door w frame, but you will still need to prepare a panel area to accept it.

    Hope this helps

    1. Make the wall as curtain wall.
    2. Make your door family using 'Door - Curtain Wall' family template and load into your project.
    3. In your project select the panel where you want to place the door. It shoulde pinned.
    4. Unpin the panel.
    5. Change the panel type to the door you made by curtain wall panel template.

    Does it help?

The easiest way to split a wall into seperate panels is to use the "Split wall with gap" tool.
