Default [2010] Resizing of duct accessories (OPEN)

Please make duct accessories re-size automatically when the ducts on either side of it are changed.

This has been a HUGE waste of time for me on past projects. The situation was a 7 story hotel with a supply air duct dropping down in a rated shaft to supply each floor. At the take-off for every floor I added a FSD at the shaft penetration. Due to the nature of the riser and shaft the FSD sat immediately next to the duct take-off fitting from the riser. As is commonly the case I had to resize the ductwork more than once. My extreme frustration, especially with tight time constraints, was that every single time I tried to resize the duct supplying each floor Revit would balk because it could not fit a transition between the FSD and the takeoff! This would not have been so much a problem if each FSD was not marked and scheduled (then I would have deleted and re-inserted them) or if I did not need to elbow over as soon as the duct exited the FSD.

I know there are plenty of 'work arounds' for this, but the ductwork design and time limits made it extremely frustrating that the FSD refused to resize WITH the ductwork.

    Thanks.

    Steve

Agreed! Even if you select the duct accessory with the ducts you change, it doesn't change the accessory. It isn't too bad if you have the space on either side for it do put a transition since you can then change the accessory duct sizes before or after you change the duct size. The accessories should have an option in the Family Categories dialog to say if it should change with the connected duct or something similar since you might want to use a duct mounted coil which you wouldn't want it to change the size for you.

It blows my mind that this doesn't already happen.

Three years later...still hasn't happened. I'd like to add that valves should do this too...
