Can you place a decal over a window, which has sun shining through it, without it blocking the sun out?? This is for a rendered image.

I don't see why not... as long as the image is a PNG with transparency, you should be able to accomplish this. In the properties for the decal you can set the transparency anywhere between 0 and 100.
Working on your holiday window clings rendering??
I think you're gonna need a plane to stick your decal on, too. Maybe a dummy clear family at your window. You'll need to experiment.
Maybe two renderings combined in PS or such? One with decal and one with clear, empty window?
Hey there,
If you are trying to get the "real world view" out the window and have the sun come in as normal......Revit 2009 & 2010 both will export PNG (and I think BMP or GIFF, just haven't tried) files with the sky set to alpha channel automatically. You can over lay these in Photoshop or Window's Picture it type photo editing programs too. I just prefer to keep it all in Revit.
Simply do you rendering as you normally do.
Save it out as a "PNG" rather than the default JPG.
Take a "real world photo" from your camera location which you rendered from.
Open a new "Drafting View"
Import your JPG file of the real world photo
Then import your PNG rendering file and place it on top of the real world photo
Play with the sizes and alignment....and voila!
Best of luck
Steve
What i usually do is take the decal and turn it into vectors in adobe illustrator(if it is not vectors already). Then I create a generic model family using the dwg file from adobe illustrator that is 1/64" thick and apply the appropriate colors and transparency to it. Then when you bring it into the model and render it, the light will refract correctly in the rendering. I hope this helps...
