You need to load the DBCON.CUI file. It should be situated in the C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD 20##\R##.#\enu\Support folder on WinXP ... Vista has it somewhere else.

You could load it through the CUI command, but I find the MENULOAD command to work easier for this.

    In Vista it is:

    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD 20##\R1#.#\enu\Support

True and that was what I did and it still didn't work. Could be disabled somehow?

Might be that something's broken. Could be any of a number of things, but basically they all come down to the idea that the dynamically loaded library (DLL, ARV, LSP, etc.) is not loaded into ram.

Try a repair install & also check that your support folders are set to the relevant standard paths. These should be something like:
    • The folder mentioned before (XP / Vista alternatives)
    • C:\Program Files\AutoCAD20##\Support
There's probably others as well, and even some extra for custom routines. If it still fails to load, try loading the DLL files in the AutoCAD program folder starting with acdb....
