Default Revit link when exporting to .dwg

I have been working on exporting to .dwg and have found that revit seem to differ in how it handles links. Sometimes they appear as blocks in the exported .dwg which is the output i want so i do not have to bind them. But sometimes it decides to create xref's in the same folder and load them in. Any ides on how to always have them as blocks? It seems to be completely random as to weather it creates a block or xref's?

It is not random. When you are in the export dialogue there is a check box at the bottom of the window that asks whether you want to xref views on sheets. I know this doesn't seem to apply, but you'll see that if you check the box to xref views then rvt links will be exported to a separate cad file. However, if you uncheck this box then rvt links will not be exported to a separate file.
