    Default Unjoining beam from column

Is there a way to unjoin a beam from a column, after they have been "autojoined" by Revit during creation?

I've got a beam that needs to cantilever over the top of my column, so I created a beam from column to column, and then used to end extension in the beam's element properties to extend the cantilevered end. I want to use the 'top/base'...'attach' command that is available in the column modify tab, to trim the column to the exact bottom flange of the beam. The problem is that when I select the beam that is running thru the column, (for the column to attach to) Revit brings up an error saying that "the column and target are joined, remove that join before attaching them."

I don't know how to remove that join. I tried using the unjoin geometry command, but the beam and column aren't selectable with that command.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks

Edit the element properties of the column to be lower then the beam. That will break the connection. Then use the attach to reconnect them.
