    Question Bottom of Pipe Tag?

There isn't a bottom of pipe tag available, the "inverted" tag gives the elevation from level 1 only, regardless of the level of the pipe. In contrast, the bottom of duct tag gives you the elevation relative to each level, so you end up with different base points for each on upper levels..

How is everybody handling this? Our client is the plumbing contractor, and they want bottom of pipe elevations for each level from that associated level, not from the first floor. They also want the bottom of pipe elevation to include the insulation. Spot elevations were suggested from the Autodesk Forum, but that doesn't accommodate the pipe insulation.

I am considering creating a pipe rack family and manually placing them at heights that accommodate the pipe insulation and tagging the height of that instead of the pipe. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    John

Can you add a - 2" INS. suffix to your spot elevation tag? If not your pipe rack family looks to be the only way of accounting for your insulation. I have used the suffix before and it did work for what we were using it for you just have to remember -?" INS. bottom of pipe +?" INS. for top of pipe. I added it to my legend. Its not the best fix but is a fix.
