    Default ConvertPoly doesn't work?

Hopefully someone will have a clue about this...

I've got some drawings coming into 2009 from LandDesktop 2006 that contain old style Polylines. Osnap does not wor on them (NEA, INT, END etc.) - as presumably they were created by an old Softdesk command that was never updated for the "new" post R-14 LWPolys.

The convertPoly command will theoretically convert the older style Heavy Polylines to the current Lightweight Polys -- but the only response I get from that tools is "0 Polylines converted"

For that matter, PLINETYPE is set to 2, so any older heavy plines are supposed to be automatically converted, but that's not happening either.

Any thoughts on cures or workarounds?

Have you tried using the command CONVERT?

Yes, I've tried both CONVERT and CONVERTPOLY -- neither changes these polylines from old-style to lightweight.

Some more digging into Help tells me that they can't be converted because there is XDATA associated with the vertices. Running XDLIST from Express shows that to be the case, SDSK and SV application data is attached.. That also explains why the PLINETYPE setvar is not impacting these objects.... It still doesn't explain why OSNAP can't find anything, so that is evidently a bug in 2009.

Workaround A is to explode the heavy polylines, and the Pedit and Join them back into LWPlines.

not snapping to heavy polylines was a bug in 2009, it was supposedly fixed via one of the updates. You dont have to explode them, if they are continuous, just disable linetype generation.
