    Angry Template from Central File?

I am trying to use my current project to set up an office template. Worksets have been inabled. It will not let me Save as Template. Is this because worksets are inabled? Is there a way around this? Cause that doesnt make any sense at all. Please help.

I do not believe you can have worksharing enabled in a template file

No, you can't save a worksharing enabled file to a template. Best you can do is go into your template and transfer project standards from the file. You won't get everything but it's better than starting over.

Sure would be nice if you could just Save As Template and Revit would just strip out the worksharing bits and make our lives easier. I mean, how hard is it really? I worry when the code base is so screwed up that you can't add features like this and non retarded elevations with a decade of effort.

Save as a project, open project & strip out all worksharing, save as template?

But you can't "Strip out" worksharing. Once it's there it's there. Therein lies the bug autodesk can't be bothered fixing. Unless that got fixed and not documented?

Id be hesitant to turn a project in to a template, worksharing issues aside...

You can simply rename a project (rvt to rte) that has worksets enable and use it as a template. You will have to resave the file when you open as a new central.
That has the benefit of having all the worksets created.

Correct, you can rename the file to a .rte, but you won't be able to save any work you do in the .rte file. If you need to make changes to the .rte, you'll have to rename it to .rvt, work it in, save it as a .rvt, then rename again to .rte to utilize it as an .rte.

why bother renaming rvt to rte? you can just create "template" rvt w/ worksharing enabled and proper worksets created.
