Default "model" items at small scale in a detail component

I am looking to address the Plywood detail component once and for all. The goal is a detail component that shows parallel lines at 1/8" to represent the plies, and then groups of three diagonal lines at a regular spacing as in traditional plywood hatching. The plies are "model" in that they are at real 1/8", so at any scale 5/8" plywood would show four of these lines, or (5) 1/8" plies. But the diagonals would be a "drafting" pattern, in that they should be the same across multiple scales.
I can get the diagonals to work fine, but no luck on the plies. I tried a Model Pattern with 1/8" spacing and Revit blows up because the spacing is too small. Tried 1/4" too, still to small. I also tried an array of lines. I can get the first line locked to the two ref planes in a Detail Component - Line Based family. But when I array that line the others are not connected? And if I go to edit another line in the group and try to lock that one everything blows up. This latter seems exceedingly problematic, as I can see needing to array lines locked to a pair of ref plains in other situations as well. Some model lines representing a walk-off mat come to mind.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Gordon

Not sure if you are looking at walls, floors or the symbol in general. Can you model the plys out at 1/8" each and have them show at fine scale only?

Actually looking to do this in a plywood detail component. The default one provided OOTB is traditional finish plywood, I am looking to replicate the traditional structural plywood look. The wall contains the actual material thickness, this is just an overlay to add graphic clarity in the detail. Definitely don't want 5 1/8" layers in the wall.
