    Default Rebar in Footings

Am I missing something here? Do you have to place rebar in footings by picking each individual ftg and placing the rebar manually? Can you not somehow tell the family exactly what rebar you want and then it will automatically place it when you add the ftg to the model?

You can use the Reinforcement extensions to generate full rebar cages in foundations.

I prefer to place the bars manually though so I can see and make sure everything ties in together correctly.

I am not sure about nesting rebar into the foundation families, other than pad bases (isolated footings) the other foundation types "Foundation Slab" and "Wall Foundation" are system families.

I found nesting too complicated at this stage.
What I tend to do is get one "footing type" right, and then copy that all around to it's corresponding footing type. This is even easier if you group it, and copy the footing + rebar holus-bolus.

Set up a section, and then orient a 3D view to it, and just expand the 3D view so you can see whats going on. I find this the easiest and fastest way.

So basically this is a manual job? Even when I copy the rebar around you still have to go back and trim and extend to fit the new ftg. Grouping the rebar and copying works but I have to edit the group to fit the new ftg and also ungroup the bars so I can get the hooks at the ends to situate the correct way.

I guess I'll add rebar to each ftg maually. Considering I have 100's of different wall ftgs, I guess my day is planned out already.

This is now on my Revit wish list. Create wall ftgs with rebar already inside.

That is what we actually do also is put them in manually, even in the walls, as it seems as the add on's don't work so great right now..
