Text not Showing

OK, I have searched the forum and found a couple of posts on this. I thought I understood how to work it, but alas, no. I can not get it to work for me.

I have created a mullion to use for my concrete wall panels in a curtain wall.
What I want is to assign some text to this mullion so as they are created in the model a "PJ" (panel joint) annotation will be created at the same time.

I have tried creating a Generic annotation label and inserting it into the mullion family, but no dice.
Any Ideas? perhaps a step by step tutorial on this. It is driving me nuts.

Annotation inside of families do not come through to projects.

Generic Annotation families do. Thats how Electrical Outlet symbols ar emade, and also how our Line Based Egress Calculator is built.

But the thing with Mullions is theyre not families, theyre profiles in system families. ive never tried it, so i dont know if thats the issue or not, but it may be.

I am realy battling with this. Perhaps someone can help. I have made a line based model for drawing pipes, trunking and ducts in running lengths. I want to add the possibility of having a parametric arrayed abbreviation such as "110mm dia" inserting automatically on the pipe as I draw it which is in itself goverened by a type parameter. I have loaded my parametric arrayed line based detail component into which I have loaded my generic annotation for the abbreviation into the model family but the text does not appear regardless of whether it is a parameter or not. Any way of solving this?
