    Default Reducer for welded pipe

Anyone have a non-flanged reducer for steel pipe?

Been trying to find something for an hour and I am just striking out big time.

When I go into edit a existing family type of a flanged reducer I get the willies with all the parameters.

I'm curious as to how you got your welded fittings ells etc. The radius's on the geniric ells are short. I've been trying to get a good tutorial for making my own with no luck.

Well I have created my own lookuptable(with the help of the internet and my reseller)
now the bends are as long are the guys need.

But the reducers and tees are just not happy... I cannot get them to look like the elbows

Thumbs down Re: Reducer for welded pipe

Once again AUGI fails me, not one person has created or has had this problem.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I know, in my case, that I'm way too busy creating my own families to spend much time diagnosing someone else's, especially in a discipline in which we do no work.

I am moving this thread over to the Families forum.

It's not like I am even looking for something to create the family for me. Just wanted some feedback of how others have solved the problem. I have the Revit MEP 2010 Families Guide and am working from it. But trying to read and understand in Autodesk language is just hard sometimes.

I don't mean to lash out at everyone just it's frustrating sometimes.

I am about 1/3 into reading a great book about family creation.

It's really promising; it includes explanations of what's behind the myriad of things one must know to compose good families.

First of all thank you for replying to my earlier post. I've been preoccupied with changing my workstation so I'm just getting back. I'll read these threads carefully and see if I can help. I do know how you feel I've spent many hours trying to find just the right tutorial to build weld fittings. I found one on elbows but couldn't find the lookup tables that matched the tutorial.

So I have been trying for weeks now to create this reducer ...LOL

Maybe not weeks a day or two off and on.. but anyway here is what I have made.

Can someone look and tell me how to clean it up some so it looks better. The insulation thickness and the outside pipe diameter are two things I am having trouble with.

    Any help would be great!

If you've been going through the Revit MEP 2010 Families Tutorial, I've been in contact with Karen Smith from Autodesk and she's been very helpful getting me through the flange and elbow fitting tutorial. There were several mistakes in the tutorial but, I have the corrections and I'm working on making a document that will explain the changes on those two tutorials.

If anyone is interested, let me know.. It sure is nice to finally get through a tutorial and have the part do what it's supposed to do.
Give a man AutoCad, and he'll draw you a floor plan.
Give a man Revit and he'll build you a house.
Give Cadmama a couple of drinks and she'll have everyone singing Rockytop!
