    Default text mask deletes text

Sometimes I use the express text mask and the text disappears. This is most frustrating. I'd rather use mtext and background mask but occassionally resort to using text masks.
Has anyone else had this happen? Or know of a fix? We are using acad 2008.

Sounds like the wipeout is "on top" of the text. What happens if you use the ._TEXTTOFRONT command?

No, I turn the wipeouts on select everything in the vicinity and there is no text behind them. They literally vanish.
In the screen shots, I only masked those few where you can see the wipeouts.

Can you post (or email) a sample drawing?

Yes, I see what you mean.
I ran an AUDIT on the drawing and it found and fixed 370 errors.
Now the textmask works OK for me.
