Default Revit MEP 2010: Central File Creation Errors

We are new to the Revit MEP software and are trying to set up a central file in order to start practicing in a more real world type fashion.
We are able to create central files smoothly on local computers and on a USB travel drive with no problems. Unfortunately when we try the same thing on our server we get various errors. Below is a more detailed description of the process and errors we are encountering.

    1) Successfully able to create a new file and attach a linked arch. Revit file.
    - no errors when saving
2)Set up worksets and the file allows me to go in and out freely.
3)Save the file as a central file
    - no errors when saving
4)If “worksets” are clicked again the attached error message. (corrupted.jpg)
5)If I close the file and reopen it:
    - the linked revit arch. file detachs and gives error
    - after reloading the arch. File, everything appears fine
6)When trying to save the file, 2 errors pop up
    - “Failed to open document”
    - “File not saved”

After searching through the AUGI and autodesk forums, I have not encountered anyone else with the exact same issues. Other people have suggested it could be due to the type of server we use or our antivirus software. We don't use the problematic brand server (Norvell) nor any anti-virus software. We have also tried changing permissions on the server to no prevail.

Also attached is another common error we consistently see when attempting the same process. The file has not moved and it is still directed to the correct path. (central file error.jpg)

Default Re: Revit MEP 2010: Central File Creation Errors

    UPDATE:
Today we were able to map a computer's C: drive on our network and that seems to work as a make-shift server for now. We just can't figure out why the server won't work the same way. As far as we can tell we have all the same write/modify/edit permissions on both drives. Our IT guy has called for back-up but if we can fix it without calling in someone else or at least narrow down the issue that would be great.
