Is there a way to add a layer to.....

How can I create a layer while a layer filter is current and have that particular layer associate itself with that layer filter? Can it be done?

Right now, when I go into the layer properties manager and the filter is current I'll create a new layer then it just disappears and travels to the "all" category with the attitude "I don't need your permission!" Then I have to reopen the layer filter properties and add the layer to it.

Why can't it just add itself?

not exactly the answer;
the logic flow is this
when you made the filter
it was created based on the contents of
the layer dictionary object
when you make a NEW layer the filter
doesn't know it's name yet, or if it should
be friendly with it, until you tell it that this
strange new layer is OK to join the club.
