    Default Worksets - Owner

I have some questions about the worksets dialog.

    1. My active workset is '(Not Editable) Arch Model' , but I am able to edit most things.
    2. What does Borrowers mean? What has a user done to become a borrower?
    3. I opened and edited the East Elevation and became the owner, but under the Editable column it said 'No'. End I edited it while someone else was borrowing it.

What is the logic here? Thanks.

    Cool Re: Worksets - Owner

A user can "borrow" a workset by clicking on an object, then right clicking and selecting
"make workset editable" or "make element editable"

The "puzzle-piece" icon which appears on objects when they are un-editable also
can perform this function. It simply allows another user to be able to have limited
control over elements, so that teams can work together.

Use the Worksharing Monitor and open the Worksets dialogue box, checking all categories
to see who "owners" and "borrowers" are as you work together, and get all users in a habit
of doing this--then everyone will start grasping the whole "worksets" thing......

    cheers..........

    1. 'not editable' means, it is NOT made editable by anyone particular user, and so, the workset is available to be edited by EVERYONE in the team. (No one has OWNED the workset yet. but could have many borrowers)

2.Borrowers mean someone (or more than one person) in your team has borrowed an element (like a window) to edit. This means, other team members can still edit other elements in the workset (like walls, doors, other windows, etc.)
OWNER: means someone has owned the WHOLE workset. Other team members cannot edit any object that belongs to that workset.

3.Just by editing the East Elevation, you should NOT have become the OWNER. You should have become the BORROWER. The editable column still says NO because > read point 1 above.

The only way you might have become the "owner" of the elevation is if you created the elevation and have not yet saved to central and relinquished permissions.
