Default REVIT 2010 32 BIT on 64 BIT machine

    Greetings,

We are planning to transition over to a 64 bit environment but do not have resources to convert all stations to 64 bit. I was told that REVIT 2010 32 bit can be installed on 64 bit machines running windows 7 or XP. Has anyone had experience doing this and are there any drawbacks? Ideally we want to run a double installation with 64 and 32 bit so we can test out performance gains while maintaining compatibility with our older 32 bit machines.

    Thanks in advance!

There is no compatibility issue with 32 bit vs 64 bit with revit. Install the 64 bit version on the 64 bit machines, and the 32 bit version on the 32 bit machines. They can coexist in the same office and work on the same projects together. The only issue to be aware of is that the 64 bit machines will be able to handle large project files that the 32 bit systems may not be able to handle.

The speed difference from 32 to 64 bit is very apparent and well worth the upgrade, ESPECIALLY with Revit MEP.
