Default Large Project Links or Workset Split

    Hi,
I have a large Hospital Project, which has 6 Sectors (All one building), each Sector is divided by the Movement Joints.
    Sectors 1, 2 & 3 are 7 storey Steel Frame construction, Sectors 4,5 & 6 are Concrete.

We will be required to provide drawing documentation to include all sectors as well as separate sector drawings.

All revit models will need to be multi user.

What is the best way to split the project.
    1. Do you have a Revit file for each sector, linking into each.
    2. do you have one file with the sectors split by workset.

if option 1. do you have a Master Revit file which links in all 6 sectors, and detailing/shceduling etc is done from that one. If so is there any limitations (ie. cannot schedule all linked files on one schedule, do sections work across linked files etc.) and does Phasing work?

if option 2. i think the file is going to get huge.

    Thanks

Default Re: Large Project Links or Workset Split

I would highly recommend using seperate models. It is our company's workflow for any large projects. It will require some extra time in setting up the intial models but worth it when you get a ton of people working on different parts of the building. I haven't seen too many issues as far as scheduling or sections - I would recommend an overall model that links in each sector.

Create that first and set up any grids, plan views, worksets, etc you might need and that will be the same for each sector. Then use copies of that model to create each sector model. This way, when you link into the overall model, you can set your sheet views to specific views created in the linked model (thus tags, notes and dimensions can all be done in the seperate models - makes the work a bit more efficient).
