    Post Sectioning and Viewpoints

This is my first posting and I hope someone can come through & assist me with this question?

Why doesn't a saved viewpoint recall its view position after rotating the model?

I'm using Manage 2009.1 to create sectioned planes thru a model. In the enclosed image file, you'll see that part of the framing is at 45 degrees. The only way I could cut transverse sectioned planes thru that area was by rotating the model 45 degress. Once my sections were created I saved each one as a viewpoint. After resetting the orientation of the model back to zero and clicking on my saved veiwpoints of the rotated framing sections, the viewpoints did not show the transverse sectioned cuts.

Does anyone know why? Any suggestions?

The ability to align a section plane to your current view was added to 2010. You'll just have to make sure and temporarily rotate your building until you upgrade to utilize your saved views....

hey cjehly, thanks for your reply. I did some reading of NW 2010's sectioning tool and it appears to be a major improvement over 2009 version. Hopefully my company will upgrade soon.

I've got good news! A collegue helped me with my problem.
There is an Align with View option when Sectioning. The reason the views did not work in my previous sample was because the model was rotated, instead of the view.

    Here's the process:
Rotate to the angle and view you want to section cut.
    Select Viewpoint – Sectioning – Enable/Disable
Select Viewpoint – Sectioning – Align View
    Adjust Slider bar
    Save Viewpoint.

The process is tedious (especially when linking secition planes) but it works!
