    Default Linking Fields - Paper space to Model Space Object

    I am trying to link a field from paper space mtext to an object in model space - can it be done?

    It worked for me as follows...

    1). Draw line in model
    2). Switch to paper and add viewport showing the line
    3). Add a text object in paperspace and add a field linked to an object (say use the length of the line), when using the select object button, even if the line is inside a inactive viewport it can still be selected!!
    4). Even if you delete the viewport, the field remains linked to the line, so switching back to modelspace changing the line length will be reflected in the field value as you switch back to paper.

    Is this similar to what you wanted?

    That worked, Thanks!!!

    I thought I tried that, but was not successful. I then would just add the field in model space, pick the entity, then chspace.

    Not Anymore!!!!
