    Default attach top of column

I have a cantilever beam. I want to attach the top of column to the base of the beam but I keep on getting this warning:
"The column and target are joined, remove that join before attaching them."
I just can't seem to unjoin element.
I tried clicking on the beam, then selecting move to select the disjoin to modify the structural framing.
Unless it's because I did the cantilever wrong ??
I did a beam then in the Element properties I change the end extension to +5'-0".

in plan draw a ref plane at the length you want you beam to catilever. use the trim tool and extend the beam out to it. then you should be able to attach the column to the other side.
