Default Laptops for Revit and Autocad

So I am searching for a laptop to run Revit MEP 2011 and Autocad 2011. At first I was only looking at the typical dell, hp models...
I really had never thought about Macs being an option.
Does anyone have a Mac Book Pro? How does it run? Does it bog down at all...
I see they only come with 4gb ram out of the box...is it a definite that I will have to upgrade it to the max 8 gb
I never new of the Parallel program either to run the Mac OS and Windows OS...does anyone have experience with this? Any major problems?

I am getting this laptop so I can work remote from home.
My husband suggested I just get a removable hard drive and get a desktop computer...but it almost seems that a good desktop is about the same price as a good laptop. And I like the idea of portability. Even though its not completely necessary if its going to make a big difference in my cost.

What do you like? Why? And what do you suggest for me?

    Thanks!

Look at the following thread about Revit on Intel Mac's:
    http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=35939

Also, be aware that Apple hasn't updated their MacBookPro's in awhile and people are anxiously awaiting the new one's with the i7 chipsets. So, if your thinking about a MBP wait until the new one's come out...

I lost patience with that thread...i probably read the first few pages and the last few...just seemd a little outdated, so I thought Id ask a new question.

Good to know...i didnt know that the mac book pros havent been updated in awhile...it would be nice for the prices to come down a bit...but i know you get what you pay for...i just cant believe how much it costs to upgrade ram to 8 gb...it wouldb be nice for some to come out of the box with 8gb...we will see...thanks for the info

Not sure if its been fixed, but there used to be an issue hooking up a Mac remotely to a Windows Network...mainly it was login issues. Make sure your IT folk are Mac savvy before purchase.

Too many, but theres an obvious one. Revit was created for PC. So for me this dictates what OS to use. Then the hardware. I bought the Dell's Precision M6500. The price justify the Laptop's massive scalability feature. Its like a real mobile desktop were you can replaced each individual parts when a new hardware technology comes out (mine comes with USB 2. Now I can replaced it later with USB 3).
