    Default A starter Guide

    Hi everyone,

I'm just about to install AutoCAD 2010 vanilla and
wanted to get a checklist of things which
I may need to know and do.

I have worked with AutoCAD since 11 and
have through the year create an AcadDoc.lsp which
I changed and adjusted throughout the upgrades.

In the AcadDoc.lsp I have system variables which
I turn on or off depending on what our users needs are.

I have also create a few lisp and VBA programs which
through the years have been superseded by AutoCAD upgrade and
    no longer used or needed.

Again, I would like to get a jump on things and
any and all help would be welcome.

Lastly, any heads up would also be welcome.
I know that with any new program there maybe small problems.
To that end, again heads up on what to do and set would be welcome too.

    Thanks like always

    CadDog

    My search code:
    CadDog2010starter

    Info I can offer:
    dont use migration
in order for VBA to work, you have to download an additional tool from AutoDesk
Dont forget to install Update 1.
    Drawing format changed in 10.

That's about it, I just got done creating the deploy for 2011 a couple weeks ago. I cant think of anything else that I did in 11 that I didnt in 10, or in 9.

Apply your acaddoc.lsp content to acad2010doc.lsp.

AutoCAD maintains acaddoc.lsp but will not disturb the one with the version (year) in the filename.

EDIT: Oops, I got this backwards. (I put my lsp code in MNL files)

DO NOT CHANGE acaddoc2010.lsp ! instead do as you've done, and put your acaddoc.lsp in a folder on the search path. acaddocversion#.lsp will be overwritten if any service packs come along or if you have to re-install

I think you've got it backwards. acaddoc.lsp is the user created file that AutoCAD doesnt touch.

    Thanks so far everyone...

It was easy to update a few of my lisp...

Ya, I couldn't load my VBA and
read that I needed to download an exe file to how install.
    I maybe learning .net soon...

I thought I need to use acad2010doc.lsp but
in the doc it states to continue to used my AcadDoc.lsp which
I need and it works great so far...

Got my XRP lisp working as well which I'm very happy about.
I don't know if AutoCAD is able to do what XRP does yet... I will check later

Download a new iDwgTab which I don't understand why
Autodesk haven't yet included this app... I love those tags...

    So far so good:

My two major lisp programs are working
and my one VBA program for creating layers on the fly is working great...
My quick keys are all working but I need to continue to test and
will not be passing the profile out until I'm sure everything that should work works...

Now I be going to try my luck with my palettes menus which I created in 2008...

    Keep your ideas coming...

Thanks again everyone it all helps...

    Update:

Here is what I have working so far:
Below you find on the left hand corner iDwgtab and next to it VBA Quick LayerMaker
Next picture shows the Lisp which sets all the company standard setting for Text and Dimension which also creates vb at selected scales. It also tags the drawing with the scale and notes it so the next user can quickly tell which scale was used...
"O ya, and company name just for fun"

Also, and this is making me very happy so far...

AutoCAD 2010 loads up very FAST...!!!

    Question:

Are we still having the problem with Annotation Scale as we did with 2007, 2008 and 2009...???

2010 will prompt you when your drawing has a lot of annotation scales, asking if you want to manage them.

Also, CTRL+C CTRL+V does not copy anno scales unless they are attached to anno objects.
