    Default how to align objects

Does anyone know of a plug-in that will align /distribute a series of 2D objects based on edges and x and y axis'? Or if there is a command already in autocad that will do this

Yes but Align does exactly the same job and was introduced in (I think) R13.

Image desktop1 shows a group of boxes placed randomly

I was wondering if there was a tool, .lisp, or plug-in that would align the boxes by a specific axis or edge and distribute them evenly as shown in image desktop 2. Another example of what I'm describing is the align tool found in Adobe Illustrator.

The images don't really show enough to be informative but would the Divide or Measure commands help you when used with a line or polyline?
