    Default 3D Face Edge help!

    Hello all,

I have been using AutoCAD for sometime now but mostly concerntrated on the 2D side. Recently started to learn some basic 3D commands. When I use the surface shading functions ie. 3Dface and then draw and colour some surface up, you could turn the edges on and off so in the shade process lines wouldn't be visible on screen. Well, here is my question:

If all four edges has been turned off, and I deleted the orignal object butI accidentally saved the file, when you turned on the shade command again when you opened the file, you will see a big shade mark on screen. Is there anyway I could edit it or trash this shade? All the layers are not off nor locked, but I just couldn't select it or edit it in whatever way, can even do a list command on it.

    Thanks so much guys

Do you still have .bak file? You could restore the drawing prior to your last save.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

Hi "vince.59412" (Sorry, I don't know your real name)

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD 2006 General forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

    Thanks, Mike

I have checked out the edge command. but can't even select this shade with no edges attached to it. I can't even bring up the properties toolbar and turn the edge visible, it just stays invisible.

No, Richard, I have already lost the *.bak file, so I can't really retrieve the unsave drawing.

    regards

    Hi

    Hint - Edge command -> "Display" option -> "ALL" option -> ...

    Have a good one, Mike

I'm probabley a little late with this but another way is to make a quick select for 3D faces in the Properties box...in there you can then make visible any/all edges.

that's definitely a good way to do it...
if you can select the object... from above:

I've had challenges with edges of 3d solids myself, but mine is that I am drawing a detail which requires that the cut edges of the various elements be visible I have gotten light grey lines which I assume is just the colour assigned to the entity's layer.I'd prefer that these be crisp black lines.
    Thanks in advance !
