Hi all,
I have a drawing that does not want to snap to my viewports - only the viewports! Osnap is on and even typing in 'per' for example does not do anything. Any ideas please? Thanks.

Found the problem, layer 0 was frozen (shouldn't be though). Somehow it's linked to the snappablity of viewports whatever layer they're in.

You're welcome, Mike.
I checked it in Lt2000i & Full 2005, and the problem wasn't there. D'you reckon it's a bug?

I checked and it is there in AutoCAD 2005 (and most likely every other version), BUT! only if you place Floating Viewports on Layer "Defpoints" <- I BIG! no, no in my humble opinion.
A forum search should turn up more on the subject of "Layer 0 & Layer Defpoints".
Have a good one, Mike
Fully agree, Mike, but my viewport is not on defpoints, (and not on 0 either) and when layer 0 is frozen, I can't snap to the viewport at all, and that only happens in 2006. Also, if the viewport is non-rectangular it's OK. Try it.

Please post a sample drawing file that exhibits the behaviour you have described.
Please note: I won't be able to review the "sample drawing file" in AutoCAD 2006 (unless I finally get my act together and install the copy I have at home).

Will do, Mike, only problem is when you open it in 2005 it all seems normal, it's only in 2006 that you'll notice the difference.

I've come across this problem several times but haven't been able to figure it out until now. When you are in paperspace trying to snap to a viewport the current layer cannot be frozen within any other veiwport on the same tab. For example. If you have two viewports and in viewport A "Layer 1" is frozen and your current layer is "Layer 1", then you won't be able to snap to any viewport on that page. Change your current layer to a layer that isn't frozen within any viewport and it will work.
