    Question fixtures too light

    Hey gang

I've been working on a lighting plan. The fixtures were dark on the screen and were printing properly but yesterday I noticed that now they're too light. They're the same shade as my linked model. I don't think I changed anything to make them view lighter. Anybody have any ideas about what happened??

I'm not quite sure what your mean by "They're the same shade as my linked model" and "make them view lighter".

If you are just speaking of view on the screen, than type TL. That will show thick (dark) and thin (light).

I tried thin lines/thick lines and that didn't make any difference. They still show up as gray but thicker. My fixtures were viewing on my screen and plotting in black lines but now they're a gray shade in both instances. My power and systems plan in the same file is still viewing with black lines.
    I'm stumped!

If they are showing as grayscale than it could be the discipline.

Check the discipline in the view props, and see if it correlates with the actual discipline you are working on.

Check the visual style. I have seen this problem occur when a floor plan view is set to "shading with edges" rather than hidden line or wireframe, usually by mistake.

or your lighting fixture family category is set to half tone, either in VG or overridden in the view that way. select fixture, right click, overide graphics in view, check if the half tone box is selected.

Since I ended up on this thread, I guess it's not too late to add a comment if I deem it relevant to the topic. I ended up at this thread because I was trying to figure out why the light fixtures were not visible on the ceiling plan.

I was doing a simple bathroom remodel and changed "Level 2" to "Top Plate" and set its height to 8'-0". When I added a ceiling it defaulted to constrained to Top Plate. I figured out that if I changed the Top Plate level to 8'-0 1/2" and the ceiling height unconstrained to 8'-0" the fixtures became visible. But, the line weight was like a halftone line. I edited the Visibility/Graphics and unchecked Lighting Fixtures > Light Source and now everything looks just fine.

Check phase filters and make sure you lighting fixtures are within the view range. Sometimes elements outside of the view depth will show up halftone. This problem always comes up intermittently for us. It is usually one of these two issues.

Back before the hpconfig when we had lines merge, for half tones, we overcome this problem by including a new border lines in our light that really makes it pop. Include a new line around the border that is less than 2" from edge. This screen shot is thin lines so you can get an idea but the lights are really easy to see now. No one said we have to use what architects tell us to use.

If that were the case, I wouldn't be using Revit .
