Default Components not at correct level - 2011

    Hi All,

I have had a problem over the past few days where components will end up several metres below the level where they are being inserted.

    Scenario:

Ground Floor Level - Select Component - check level in the properties of the component to ensure it is set to the current level - Place the component. The component is inserted in the model 3.5 metres below the level.

Any clues or any on else seeing a similar behaviour.

    Cheers,

    Ian

Can you post a Revit project file (simplified, purged) where this is happening?

Yea, I think I might have experienced this actually.. basic 2d sink family not appearing on the correct level, then later when I closed down the first floor, they were on the ground floor... Hmmm..

Open the Family itself, there is probably a "level" in the family that the geometry is hosted
or constrained to, or a reference plane which is causing the problem when loaded into the project.

    cheers

In the end, it turned out to be quite simple.....user error!

Earlier in the day, I had switched off the floors in that level. As the components I was inserting were surface based, they found the nearest surface which was the next level down. No underlay was set and the view range limited the view to the current level only, thus in hidden line mode I had no visual cue that the floor was hidden in the view.

A good nights sleep always helps.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    Cheers,

    Ian
