Question Elements in linked files obscure local elements

I link in a structural and architectural model to use as a background for my design work. Then I start dropping my design elements onto the view. I find that the elements in the linked models (i.e. - my background) take visual precedence over the elements I have placed, even to the point of obscuring my work.

How come Revit does this, and is there some way to override the behavior and keep my backgrounds in the background?

    Thanks,
    Joel

Welcome to [our] nightmare. Annotation objects in linked files are particularly bad.

That's what I was afraid I was going to hear. Seems like a funny thing to have made it down through all of the versions to date...looks like it's still an issue in 2011.

You seem to be the one that replies to most of my posts these days...maybe I should start my posts with "Dear Robert".

I'm currently working in a structural model with a linked architectural model. I'm running into a similar issue but here's the twist. On one level it actually works pretty well. I can see my objects under the architect's slab. I've never had this work properly without setting items transparent and such. Got a ticket open with my reseller, they seem to be stumped also. I really hope it isn't "just the way it works" like I have thought for the last 3 years.

I'll let you know if we resolve it in any useful way.

I have discovered that printing raster instead of vector eliminates many of these situations. Of course, it takes forever and generates huge PDFs... :^(
